In the glory of the light
As the clouds cover the sky
Lightning and thunder strike
The rain comes crashing down
Drowning every blade of grass
In giant puddles and rolling streams
Through incessant lashes
Soaked to the bone
I look up to the sky
In hope for gentler rain
All I hear is roaring thunder
As looming clouds glare
At the endless deluge
At the break of dawn
The clouds withdraw
As cracks of light emerge
In grey walls that crumble
Like shards of glass they fall
Revealing an expanse of blue
Like endless oceans that sparkle
The light claws back his own
He beams at me
As the last drip drops
I stand in his loving embrace
a purposeful glare at the sky
the thunderous night fades
As I bask in the glory of the light
